Service Network
Before service networks were introduced, the used IP addresses had to be specified per instance individually. Today, all XaaS services (Database Services, File Services, Kubernetes) are being integrated into the IP address management (IPAM) solution of the ESC in a Self-service IPAM approach. Service networks bring the following benefits:
- Reduced risk of causing any IP overlaps
- Possibility to allocate sub-ranges to an individual service
- Simplified overview of the utilised address space
Service networks are special purpose IP address ranges, which are blocked for VMs and other types of deployments. Services using service networks are:
- Managed Oracle Database Services - High End
- Managed Oracle Database Services - Regular
- File Service Premium
- Managed Kubernetes
Before you can start using these XaaS services it is mandatory to provision a service network for each of the desired service types.
