Entitlements

With entitlements you can decide who can do and see what on a per business group basis.

The Enterprise Service Cloud foresees two use-cases in regards to entitlements:

  • Opt-In Customers
  • Opt-Out Customers

In the following the two cases are described.

Opt-In Customers

This is the standard use-case which will allow you to see all new features reflected in your entitlement.

In order for this to work, you simply need to make sure that you create all your Business Groups only with the "Create Business Group" XaaS Blueprint. If you only use this XaaS Blueprint, the entitlements will be created for you in the background, depending on what services you select. There will be a default entitlement for all services except "Managed Services". As soon as you select the "Managed Services" service, a second entitlement will be created. Additionally an entitlement for our orchestration solution (vRO) will get created in all cases. Everything will be created in the background and there is no need to keep all these entitlements in mind.

This use-case comes with the advantage that as soon as Swisscom releases a new Day-2 action to any of our services, you will automatically see the new action after deployment. There is no need to add the new Day-2 action to existing entitlements, Swisscom's deployment will take care of this part.

Opt-Out Customers

The second use case gives you more control over your entitlements and let's you implement a more complex role model. It also let's you hide certain Day-2 action you don't want to allow to (some of) your users.

To get your custom entitlements implemented, you could technically create them according to your liking directly via vRealize Automation API. However, there are certain things Swisscom needs to enforce in order to operate ESC properly. Especially in the area of Managed Services, the entitlements need to be in a specific format with approval policy configurations in place. Therefore, you will have to follow the following instructions if you plan to create your own entitlements.
