Backup/Restore
For Swisscom RHEL VMs we differentiate between image-based and agent-based backup. Also you can create your own snapshots of the machine.
Image-based Backup
The Swisscom RHEL VMs are protected with image-based backup. This backup process for VMs creates a snapshot of the Operating System and all data and mountpoints associated with the VM. The default backup policy is set to 30 days. The following backup policies can be applied:
Backup Schedule | Retention Period |
---|---|
Daily | 7 days |
Daily | 14 days |
Daily | 30 days |
Daily | 90 days |
Weekly | 365 days |
To change the backup policy use the day-2 operation Change Backup Policy. Backups taken with the older policy will remain available until their retention period expires.
After a Swisscom RHEL VM has been backed up at least once, it is considered protected. The image-based backup feature provides the ability to restore a complete Swisscom RHEL VM or to recover individual files and folders.
The restore can be done by Swisscom upon service request ticket from customer. Please set the VM into Temp Admin state and provide VM name and hostname in the ESC Service Request ticket.
